Beryl the Third is a contemporary redesign of the Beano character Beryl the Peril. The following animation was made as a submission to the D&AD New Blood Awards.
A small selection of my painting work, in acrylic and gouache.
These are some fun mountain goat characters I developed.
Flesh (2017) is a work that speaks a conflict of violence and calm, ecstasy and despair, beauty and pain. It plays with notions of flow, transition, introspection, vulnerability and limbo.
Combining painting and 2D digital animation with a figurative style, the complex composition of bodies is a large mural of life-sized nudes acting as a contemporary otherworldly tableau, over which the animated bodies are projected in floating gestures. These are some storyboards I made as pre-roll ad ideas for Blunt Umbrellas.
This is a music video that I created for the Dunedin band, the Rothmans. I overlayed sweeping footage of a drawing several meters long with footage of the band through projection & post-production techniques.
Battery boy is a little sparky character I created in my spare time. I wanted to create a run cycle for him that was full of energy.
This is a music video I created for Kane Strang's "My Smile Is Extinct". I combined swirling, surreal footage of paint in my sink with traditional animation techniques (stop motion & frame-by-frame ink on paper).
These animated illustrations are inspired by the splendiferous work of Roald Dahl.
